It has been a while

Hypnosis... very addictive, both as subject and hypnotist.

I have not posted in a while for a couple of reasons. The first one is rather stupid but somehow I forgot the username to log into this account. Took me a couple of tries over a couple of weeks trying enough combinations to get it right.

Second I've been too busy with other stuff and the whole hypno thing got on the back burner.

Lessons learned so far:

- take things slow, especially as a hypnotist
- not everyone can be tranced using the same approach
- be able to say no if things just don't feel right

The last two are self explaining I think, but the first one is based on the experience that most subjects don't have patience and want immediate results.

It's the hypnotist's job to make sure there is a clear understanding of what to expect from a first, second, third... session.

All too often when no expectations are defined, the first session is a disappointment and the result is one of two possibilities:

- the subject runs of to try to get instant results with another hypnotist and will most likely be disappointed again
- the subject pretends everything to go exceptionally well

In the first case you get an endless loop of disappointment every instance strengthening the feel of failure.

In the second case it's a classic example of 'If it's too good to be true, it's probably not true!', and in that case the two people involved are basically wasting their time.

Clear, realistic and measurable expectations are the best way to get there. And when you look back, you'll think...'Wow, see where I started, and where I am now! Cool!'

Have fun, be safe.
